Seneghe and the numerous localities present in the province of Oristano are seats of events, preformances and feasts which can cheer up your holidays. We are making a list of some of them.

January and the Carnival

At the New Year's Day there are feasts in the squares of Oristano and in the biggest towns of the province.

The 20th of January in Seneghe you can see the celebration of San Sebastiano, the village patron. The same day is the beginning of the Seneghese Carnival, which lasts till the Shrove Tuesday. In the intermediate sundays of Carnival, on Piazza Mannu (well known as Partz'e sos ballos) we held the evening dances. In the Shrove Tuesday morning in the same square is an exclusive performed dance called Sas Danzas, with a picturesque , impressive and dynamic choreography unique in his kind.

In the Shrove Tuesday and in the sunday before, there is in Oristano the Sartiglia, an equestrian competition with a great call of audience. The horseman, riding full gallop, have to pierce with their sword a star which is hanging by a thread in front of the city Cathedral.

In the evening the same riders show off in races and acrobatics upon the saddle.

Not less fascinating is Sa Carrella'e Nanti, which is another Carnival equestrian competition in Santulussurgiu, where riders run very fast in the city centre narrow streets, giving shivers and strong emotions to the audience.

Still in Carnival there is in Narbolia the Sagra delle Zeppole, where you can taste and buy delicious pancakes accompanied with wine, songs and dances.

July

The 2nd of July in Seneghe you celebrate Santa Maria della Rosa, to whom is devoted a little church inside the village.

The celebration lasts three days because of the obligation of the organizing committee. In the main day, following the religious celebration and the procession, the riders have to take part in the Adria, an horse race on the parvis around the church.

August

In the early days of that month it is possible to take part in the Sagra della Vernaccia with tastings and enterteinments.

At the feast of the Assumption very amusing days and nights on the bathing localities and night clubs, only a few Kilometers from Seneghe.

September

In the early days of September in Seneghe, the Perda Sonadora Association organizes “Settembre dei Poeti” three days on topic with poems, literature and art. You can listen to compositions performed by the same authors, who are guests in our village, and you can be present in the numerous daily dates.

Such as a frame, upon all, many paintings, photos, movies and recordings exposed in the streets of the town centre.

November

The last sunday of this month in Seneghe there is Prentzas Apertas, when the historical oil presses in the village rare open to the visitors, and when privates and associations can show their products or make enterteinment with music, songs, movies and exhibitions. A good glass of wine and excellent bruschette (toasts with oil from Seneghe) are offered to the visitors.
